Many Voices, One Movement — IAWM Poster Exhibition
As part of the 2025 IAWM Conference and General Assembly in Merano, the International Association of Women’s Museums presented a collective poster exhibition featuring around 20 women’s and gender museums and museum initiatives from around the world.
The exhibition highlights the extraordinary diversity of feminist, women’s, and gender-focused museums across different cultural, political, and geographic contexts. Through visual languages as varied as the institutions themselves, the posters introduce museums from Europe, Asia, Oceania, North and South America, and virtual spaces dedicated to preserving women’s histories, advancing gender equality, and creating places of dialogue, memory, resistance, and transformation.
Each participating museum was invited to create a poster in its own language and visual identity, offering insights into its mission, collections, community work, and local context. Together, the posters form a vibrant panorama of contemporary feminist museology and demonstrate the strength of international solidarity and collaboration within the IAWM network.
The exhibition celebrates the shared commitment of women’s and gender museums worldwide: making women’s histories visible, fostering social change, and creating spaces for multiple voices and new futures.
