SHHH! Stories about Abortion and Sexuality
SHHH! Stories about Abortion and Sexuality is a digital exhibition presenting 57 personal stories about abortion from 23 countries around the world.
Developed within the network of the International Association of Women’s and Gender Museums, the project brings together voices that are often silenced, stigmatized, or excluded from public discourse. The stories reflect a wide range of experiences, shaped by different legal, cultural, and social contexts.
By collecting and sharing these narratives, SHHH! addresses abortion as both a deeply personal and profoundly political issue. It highlights how questions of bodily autonomy, reproductive rights, and access to healthcare continue to be restricted, criminalised, and debated in many parts of the world.
The exhibition creates a space for visibility, exchange, and reflection — challenging stigma and contributing to a more open and informed conversation about sexuality and reproductive justice.
